The Malacañang of the North and Paoay Lake

Malacañang of the North or Malacanang ti Amianan and Paoay Lake is our first destination after our Paoay sandunes adventure. This is another must see or visit place in the city of Paoay. By the name itself, it suggests serving as the First family’s official residence during Ferdinand Marcos governance; it is one of the 29 houses built in his two decades of power.

This 5 hectare property lies along the coastal part of Paoay overlooking Paoay lake which that time is hosting an international rugby competition. According to stories the left part of this house which is fully covered by wood and local plants is one of the favorite places for hunting of the young Ferdinand Marcos and his father.

Going inside the house will give you visions of what this family was in the time of their Father’s presidency. The entire house is a view of how prestigious their lives were, it nestled important details that will tell you stories of the famous family like the young Marcos’ old toys, the rooms and its interior design, the structure of the house itself and the lavish ornaments. I love the walk-in closets and the wide bathrooms and master bed room. Tour guides inside are really good story teller and I enjoyed each and every detailed story they share - Believe it or not, I was able to finish it all.

Some rooms and part of the house where already renovated and was used as a showroom showcasing the projects, achievement and stories of the late President Ferdinand Marcos and Family on the time of his leadership.

Finally, I was able to see one of Emelda's gown. The detail of this creation is incredible.
I definitely love to create one like this someday :)

Malacañang of the North is currently being managed by Department of Tourism; entrance fee is 20 pesos for adults and 10 pesos for children. It is open from 9am-11:30am and 1pm-4:30pm daily except on Mondays.
