| Date of Stay: January 17-18 2013 |
When I first planned our Ilocos trip, I didn't expect much activities in Laoag and its nearby city/munipalities as I was more excited to see and explore the white beach in Pagudpud. I first
planned to just take a commuter's guide and hit the road like locals do but my
sister got a flu on the same day of our flight making me change my mind and
contacted Kuya Glenn Tolintino for a guided tour instead. I also asked him if
they have a vacant room to accommodate us since we still don’t have a place to
stay though we have some prospect hotels but we are lacking time and energy to
check those, besides I just gained back my health a day ago from a flu as well.
Since I am not that enticed about the where
about in Laog, Paoay, Batac and Sarrat I leave everything to Kuya Glenn. The
transaction was fast, I called him at 6PM asking for the service and a Homestay
and fortunately he says yes. We are departing Manila 8:45 PM same day and
touching down Laoag international airport in an hour and ten minutes. Kuya
Glenn fetches us on the airport without us waiting for even a minute and
that was really amazing.
We headed to their house and it was great!
This room cost us Php350.00/person per night with breakfast.
The room is visibly clean; actually not
only the room was clean but the entire house. Here is additional beds for two. :)
The comfort room is sharing but it’s really
nice as well, it’s just that I am a bit scared of slipping myself while getting
inside the tab since the tab and the shower is combined.
A very nice place to put all your stuff - something neccesary for those who are staying longer.
The entire house was filled with silence so
really have a very good sleep that night. Beyond the service we expected, early
morning the nex day we went to Sandunes and when we came back the room was
already cleaned from the morning mess we left behind. And the towels that we
used where already replaced with new and clean ones So kind of them isn’t it?
Kuya Glenn’s wife is our cook – she prepared
sumptuous breakfast for us making us forget about our diets. And, the entire family is so accommodating J
. His little boy saying welcome when we came in and good bye as we left the
house.
Laoag homestay and Kuya Glenn's tour service
entirely wowed me up until now. We enjoyed our home stay and we enjoyed the tour – in
fact Laoag surprises me so much more than Vigan and that I guess because of
Kuya Glenn’s effort to give us stories and to feed us with local knowledge that
are hard to find in any books.
For your Laoag Tours or even All in Ilocos tour– I highly recommend
Kuya Glenn. He's nice, a very perky person and he has with him a pocketful of
stories. A warning though, bring camera and extra camera, take with you some
extra battery and extra USB or Memory card coz this man is a cam whore! Hehe J

PS: I am including this in hotel tags as a very nice
alternative for stay as such. :) If you are considering this stay might as well take a tour service too because the tourist spots in Laoag are quite distant from each other unlike those in Vigan. Though trycicle will do but you may end up paying higher specially if you are in a large group.
Cool :)

I have known Ilocos to be full of old houses... is it true? I really like to visit it someday. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Cherry, Yes they have a lot. The heritage village in Vigan is a place that can take you to our countries old days. Old houses are everywhere. Go ahead and take a visit as soon as you could :) I am posting more photos soon.
